The "Foot-operated Dental Drill" exhibition opened as part of the "Exhibit of the Month" project on June 17, 2026.
This is one of the most recognizable symbols of Soviet medicine in the mid-20th century. The first domestically produced pedal-operated model was developed in the 1930s at the Stalingrad Medical Equipment Plant. Due to its reliability and complete independence from electricity, the device was mass-produced until 1963.
The drill was donated to the museum's collection by V. M. Kulikov, chief physician of the House of Health Education.
