The exhibition "Children's Pedal Scooter 'Kid'" was opened as part of the "Exhibit of the Month" project on December 18, 2025. The "Kid" pedal scooter is an example of Soviet children's transport designed for children aged 3 to 7. Such scooters were widely produced in the 1970s and 1980s at the Kuibyshev Plant in Petropavlovsk city (Kazakh SSR).
Today, the "Kid" scooter is of significant museum value as an example of mass-produced children's transport from the 1970s and 1980s. The exhibit was donated to the museum by S. N. Dirksen, a resident of Temirtau. Year of manufacture: 1986.
The popularity of the "Kid" was largely due to its visual similarity to one of the most recognizable scooters of the USSR, the Vyatka VP-150.
Pedal scooters were not only used at home: they could be found in kindergartens, Pioneer Houses, and toy stores. As an object of everyday culture, the "Kid" reflects ideas about child rearing, the level of industrial design, and the spirit of the late Soviet era.
