The online opening of the exhibition "Extract from the order of the Management of the Directorate of the synthetic rubber Sovpren Plant under construction No. 2, March 8, 1943" took place as part of the "Exhibit of the Month" project, on March 6, 2025,
March 8 is International Women's Day, which is celebrated in many countries around the world. The history of International Women's Day is associated with the struggle of women for their labor, social and political rights in the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The official celebration of March 8 as International Women's Day was established by the UN (United Nations) only in 1975. The points of this significant document are adhered to by 189 states.
During the Great Patriotic War, many industrial facilities were built in the village of Samarkand (since 1945 Temirtau), one of them was the Karaganda Synthetic Rubber Plant Sovpren No. 2. The main workers were women, since men were called to the front. In those difficult years, March 8 was an ordinary working day. But the most worthy workers were always awarded certificates, and poems and articles about their labor successes were published in newspapers. A very interesting exhibit from the funds of our museum is associated with this event - this is an extract from the order of the Management of the Directorate of the SK Sovpren No. 2 plant under construction, dated March 8, 1943.
"I congratulate all the women of our team on the International Communist Women's Day on March 8. During the Great Patriotic War, many women of our team showed examples of good work, giving their strength to the construction of our plant. In connection with the anniversary of the International Communist Women's Day on March 8, the following workers of the SK-Sovpren No. 2 plant are awarded: Valuable gifts." The most interesting thing in this document is the wish: "I call on all the women of our team to step up their work..." at that time, this was probably the most relevant wish.
On the eve of the holiday, our museum conducted a survey: what wishes do women receive today on March 8 of the 21st century. You can see the results of the survey in the exhibition.
