The Temirtau city’s Museum opened an exhibition devoted to the soda siphon as part of its "Exhibit of the Month" project on September 14, 2026.
At the heart of the display is a soda siphon- a household device designed for making carbonated water at home. In the Soviet Union, these siphons became widespread during the 1960s and 1970s, becoming a familiar fixture of everyday domestic life.
During the presentation, visitors learned about the device's design and how it works.
Over time, soda siphons fell out of everyday use; however, today they are of interest as artifacts of Soviet-era domestic culture. Such exhibits not only offer a glimpse into the objects of the past but also evoke memories of the daily lives, habits, and household traditions of people from that era.
The siphon featured in the exhibition was donated to the museum by local residents, allowing it to become part of the museum's collection and introduce the modern generation to an element of daily life from the Soviet era.
