The "Central Avenue" exhibition opened at the Temirtau City Museum, marking the 55th anniversary of Metallurgov Avenue on September 17.
The three-kilometer-long Metallurgov Avenue has been scaled down and recreated in an 11-meter-long display; the museum space now features the avenue's two-way traffic, intersections, pedestrian crossings, and iconic landmarks. Yet, this is not exactly the avenue where residents stroll today—it is a collaboration between the modern perspective of Temirtau city’s citizens and the view of the avenue held by past generations.
Historical photographs serve as "windows" into the past. Visitors can see what Metallurgov Avenue looked like over the years, trace its evolution, observe urban details that have since vanished, and try to recognize familiar locations in their former guise.
