The Temirtau city’s Museum hosted a workshop titled "Forgotten Professions of the Kazakh Steppe" as part of the Labor Day celebrations on September 25, 2026,.
The event was organized as part of the museum's research into the traditional professions and crafts of the Kazakh people—many of which were lost during the transition from a nomadic to a sedentary lifestyle.

Participants were introduced to six little-known professions of the past: көшбасшы (migration leader/master of nomadic movement),  құдықшы (water-finding specialist),қағушы  (hunter’s assistant), kіреші (steppe carter/transporter),  сынықшы  (traditional bone-setter/healer), and нақышшы (master of ornamentation).
To explore the topic, a thematic exhibition was created, featuring historical photographs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries alongside museum artifacts, such as tools and objects of material culture from that era.

A key feature of the event was its interactive format. Participants engaged in practical tasks and tried their hand at the roles associated with these traditional professions, gaining a deeper understanding of the specific nature of the work and its significance within steppe society.

The event helped popularize historical and cultural heritage, expanded knowledge regarding the traditional Kazakh way of life, and drew attention to these vanished professions as a vital part of the cultural legacy.
