The Temirtau city’s Museum  launched an inclusive project titled "Territory of Equals," implemented as part of the "Shygarmashylyk Kerueni" (Creative Caravan) series of educational programs on October 8, 2026.

Designed for children with special educational needs, the project offered an engaging journey into the world of history, folk traditions, and creative discovery. The program combined educational games and hands-on activities with opportunities to explore museum exhibits.

In the hall "Unity of the Kazakhstan People" , the children explored the unique culture of the Kazakh people, learning about the traditional Kazakh yurt and its various components. Special attention was given to the felt covering—a vital element of a nomadic dwelling. Using authentic museum artifacts—such as қырықтық, сабау и тарақ the young participants tried their hand at wool processing, connecting with ancient crafts and the legacy of past generations.

The children were particularly fascinated by traditional Kazakh textiles, such as syrmak and tekemet (felt rugs), whose intricate patterns showcase the richness of Kazakh ornamental art. Inspired by the beauty of these traditional motifs, the children recreated them on tablet screens, producing their own designs and discovering the captivating world of national ornamentation.

Equally engaging was the visit to the "History of the Temirtau city" hall. Here, the participants encountered household items from the past, including a rubel (a wooden laundry tool) and various types of irons—those heated by hot coals or other external heat sources. Through interactive play, the children tried their hand at these traditional ironing methods, gaining an appreciation for the hard work and patience that once went into everyday domestic chores. The program continued with a game called "Caravan of Correspondences," in which the children had to find and match various objects related to history and everyday life—such as a kamcha (whip), a torsyk (leather bottle for water), stirrups, a tyubeteika (skullcap), and a camera.

Learning about the history of how Temirtau was built proved to be a true adventure. Imagining themselves as the city’s original builders, the children enthusiastically constructed urban structures, as if transported back to the era when the foundations of this future industrial hub were first laid.

"Territory of Equals" is a space where every child can express themselves, experience the joy of discovery, unlock their creative potential, and become an active participant in c
